Why RuPaul’s DragCon Was Unbelievably Epic… Hunty

by Ryan Shea

DragCon

We had a fantastic time at RuPaul’s DragCon this past weekend, which took place at the Jacob Javitz Center in Midtown Manhattan.  The event took place for the first time here on the east coast (it’s been running for three years straight in Los Angeles), and I have to say that they have clearly struck gold based on the sheer chaos and excitement that the entire building felt throughout the two days there. Dear Gay Men: Please Stop Calling Me Chubby. Thanks in Advance.

by Ryan Shea

Chubby

The word “fetish” runs rampant in the gay community.  Sometimes for the good, and sometimes for the not so good (see here).  Something that can easily be fetishized within this ever growing cafeteria of gay subcategories is when a guy happens to be into someone who is carrying extra weight on them.  This term used to be referred as someone who is a “bear”, however the meaning of that is now so misconstrued that even I don’t know what is and what isn’t (it’s basically a state of mind at this point.  Which is fine).  So what happens when you are like me, and have the weight on you, but don’t like being called words like “chubby” amongst others adjectives?  At what point does someone draw the line with how they fetishize a dude with size? Liam Knox Has a Sweet Disposition… and is Sexy to Boot

by Ryan Shea

Liam Knox

I first met the dashingly handsome Liam Knox a couple of months ago, when he was in Manhattan for the Black Party and all of its debauchery.  We sat down for what became a three hour lunch (the best, in my opinion) where the TitanMen exclusive told me all about himself and where he got to where he is.  He, just like many of the other men in the industry that i have met and interviewed, has a fantastic backstory to him that elevated not only his charm and good looks but above all his heart to a level that I don’t think I have seen before. Former “Real World” Star Davis Mallory Gets “Loud” on New Album

by Ryan Shea

Davis Mallory

Davis Mallory has had an interesting decade since we first saw him on The Real World: Denver which aired a decade ago.  After becoming known nationwide for not only that show but his subsequent appearances on The Challenge, Davis has done a complete 180 and made music the focus of his career.  He has spent the past four years writing and developing music that has now been put together on a remarkable first effort called “Loud”, which is available for purchase today. “Super Smash Bros” Reimagined as Hot, Burly Bears? Yes, Please!

by Ryan Shea

Oso Apparel

I don’t think I’ll ever be able to look at Luigi and Pikachu ever again, and you know what… that’s fine!  The bear world has been abuzz on social media this week, as these incredibly hot and amazing recreations of characters from Super Smash Bros have been popping up all over the place!  This is all courtesy of Oso Apparel, who has set their mission to create bear apparel for “bear lovers, geeks, and fashion-forward folk”, according to their Facebook page with the Super Smash bears series and so much more.  Seems to be doing the trick so far. The Str8UpGayPorn Awards (Top)ple Through Stage 48 During Pride Weekend

by Ryan Shea

Str8UpGayPorn

The Str8UpGayPorn Awards, which honors the best in gay adult entertainment, took place this past Thursday night at Stage 48 as part of the kickoff for NYC Pride Weekend.  I have done gay events in the past that had awards, but never for the adult industry itself, so suffice to say, I was excited in many different aspects to see just exactly what would go down as this is the first time that the website and its owner, Zach Sire, has done something like this. MAGNANIMOUS

Filmmaker and Creative Producer (and superbly handsome) Sam Hendi is back with his second short film in his MADIDUS triolgy called MAGNANIMOUS.  The follow up to his critically acclaimed first film MASS: C19H2802 once again brilliantly showcases how men and body language intertwine absolutely beautifully.  On a visual and hearing level, this short film is something that needs to be seen by many as it highlights the beauty of men from a solo point of view but also when they have that amazing connection with another man. Between The Shades

Six letters make up the rainbow that is our community- LGBTQI, and as time has gone by each of those letters has shifted and shaped in so many different ways from its inception many years ago.  Jill Salvino’s documentary, Between the Shades, puts faces to those letters in an effort to figure out how our community got to where we are today in 2017.  The documentary will be one of the highlights at the Soho International Film Festival, premiering this coming Saturday at the Village East Main Theatre.
