We are all looking for ways to stay in shape, especially with bathing suit season coming up in a few short weeks (although mother nature seems to think differently). There are a bevy of different gyms you can go to in the New York City area, but which one is the best to go to? In my opinion, that one is Crunch Gym. They recently opened a brand new location in Chelsea, it’s third location in the big apple. The location is at 220 West 19th Street between 7th and 8th avenue, wedged in the heart of the Chelsea district. [Read more…] about Crunch Fitness’ in Chelsea- Why it’s the best
Sony X Review- MDR-X10 Headphones
Sony has been to go to name for decades when it comes to handling all of your audio needs. From the first time I bought my own Walkman back in the 90’s to now, I have always been impressed by their dedication to how the product looks and sounds at the same time. Their new line of headphones is no different. I got the opportunity to review the X10 line that that has just been released, and it is being backed by none other then “American Idol” legend and current “X Factor” host Simon Cowell.
“I chose to make a set of headphones with Sony because I simply wanted something better than what is in the market today,” said Cowell. “I’ve tried all of them, literally every single one. Sony and I set out to create the best headphone in the world. We are absolutely blown away by these. With the X headphones, it’s like being in the recording studio when the records are made. The sound is that clear.”
“Our X Headphones are for the true listeners, the music fanatics who share Sony’s uncompromising passion for music and precision in sound,” said Andrew Sivori, vice president of the Personal Audio Division at Sony Electronics. “Created by Sony and Simon Cowell, the new X Headphones deliver an amazing listening experience wrapped up in a cutting-edge design for the ultimate in self-expression.”
The look and feel-
Beyond how well put together the box was when it came to me, everything about these headphones read sleek and chic. The headphones itself fit very well onto your ears and are relaxing. They adjust to fit your specific head size very well, and at the same time are very lightweight. Overall in that aspect a very pleasant experience.
The sound quality-
The sound quality on these headphones are really through the roof. What really makes these headphones worth it is that you can be in a really busy setting and still only hear what you are listening to. The base on these are incredible and you can hear every instrument playing. For instance, right now I am listening to a great throwback, Busta Rhymes & Janet Jackson’s “What’s It Gonna Be?”. The base in this song is crazy as is, and Janet’s voice is soft but powerful. What the headphones does is that it enhances both counterparts to where everything sounds incredible all at the same time. Really, an incredible listening experience.
Overall-
Overall these headphones are just amazing. If this is one your wish list or want to get a tech-minded friend a great gift for his or her birthday.
They have also launched a new line in the x10 series dubbed the MDR-X05 Cans. Just launched a little over a week ago, itis a lightweight product with colorful designs from red on silver to black on red. It is available now with the x10 series at a price of $199, marked down a$100 dollars for a limited time only. Don’t miss out on your opportunity to pick up these great headphones and sport them out for your friends to see!
Real Housewives of Atlanta Recap: GWTW Fabulous?
As an avid Real Housewives of Atlanta fan (and other seasons at that), this season was different in several ways yet it still brought home that punch at this particular venue does so well. Now that Kim Zolciak has departed this year, the lone original housewive in NeNe Leakes continues to be the one that everyone watches for when it comes to her no nonsense tolerance of stupidity and her overall hilarity that comes with being her. Besides her, there are two new housewives that were introduced in the mix, and boy did they deliver. One more than the other though. Kenya Moore made herself pretty comfortable in the RHOA franchise this year, coming in like a bullet from episode one when judging on a Jet Magazine contest to the finale last night when attempting to kick out other new housewife Porsha Stewart out for coming in a different costume (yes, that happened). Regardless, this was the best season of RHOA in a very long time and I am going to breakdown each housewife and my thoughts on them this season.
NeNe Leakes-
NeNe is truly the best part of this show, and in many people’s eyes the best housewife to ever exist on any of the series. Her vivaciousness and tenacity to get her career where it needs to be has been truly shown this season, in particular her always being bi-coastal in LA and Atlanta. She is finally a series regular on the NBC show “The New Normal” and that was documented in full this year. Also profiled heavily was her reconciliation with her ex husband Greg which culminated in him proposing to her in last weeks episode (Aww). My personal opinion is that they should’ve never gotten divorced in the first place, as to me it just seemed like she was so career driven that she wanted her independence and that was a main focal point in her leaving. Nevertheless, NeNe had words with every cast member this season except for Kandi (her former nemesis) and Cynthia. She read every other girl correctly this year, from Porsha having a controlling husband to Kenya getting way out of line with everyone for no reason. As for her relationship with Kim, that is one that will truly never flourish and be what it was supposed to be- as a modern day boughetto version of Thelma & Louise. Facts are this- NeNe is water to that shows livelihood. That franchise can’t survive without it. So keep coming back NeNe because we love you!
Kandi Burruss-
In my opinion, Kandi is the most successful when it comes to being a true business woman. Her storyline this year was falling in love with her boo Todd Tucker and the road to engagement and potentially a new baby in the works. She is one of two of the RHOA housewives that are getting a spin off, her’s being “The Kandi Factory” in which she discovers new talent to work professionally in the music industry (pumped for that). Kandi and NeNe are in the same realm in that they both really keep it 100 everywhere they go. Kandi did a very good job in the drama department by sticking with Phaedra during the whole battle with Kenya and finally settling the stupid beef between her and NeNe when they were on vacation. A true businesswoman, she continues to be the pioneer in female sex toys with her “Bedroom Kandi” line that earned her the Best Toy Sex Line at the 2012 AVN’s. The joke here that I love is when she said “I think I am the only person to win a Grammy and an AVN”. Really for me, Kandi is the shit and should’ve been an original housewife in season one as opposed to the woman she replaced, DeShawn (boring). She continues to breakaway from being just a girl from a 90’s girl group and really make herself a force to be reckoned with in the business world. Good for her.
Cynthia Bailey-
Cynthia’s will be short and sweet. The renewal of vows with Peter in Anguilla was nice. Her continuing her Bailey Model Agency was fun to watch as well. Her standing her ground when Kenya was acting a hot ass mess at her agency was great as well. Besides that, Cynthia remains to me an anomaly on that show. She isn’t that interesting but somehow continues a third season on the show. I was sort of shocked they kept her around and not that insane nut job Marlo Hampton. She does read well though. The funniest thing this season for me is when she asks Kenya- “Now Kenya, were you before or after Vanessa Williams”. HA. Love it.
Phaedra Parks-
Ugh. There are times where I like Phaedra, and there are times where she annoys the heck out of me. Regardless, her colorful commentary keeps me cracking up, especially her digs at onetime friend Kenya. That seemed to be her main focal point this season as well, was her ongoing battle with Ms. Moore. The battle began really when Phaedra didn’t want to cough up any money to pay Kenya for all the work she put into Phaedra’s workout video. I side with Kenya here, as regardless of friendship you should pay for something like that. That is when the flood gates opened and pretty much at every event something happened between the two of them. They seemed to squash things in the end, but besides that fight was there anything really interesting about Phaedra this season? Her going into the funeral business for pets bored the heck out of me and her relationship with her fine as heck husband Apollo bored me as well. With baby number two on the way, is there anything left for this woman to be a vital structure when season six happens? Stay tuned.
Porsha Stewart-
Or as I like to call her, the Alexis Bellino of RHOA. Meaning the girl says some dumb shit. Porsha is a bubbly fun girl who has some great family history that was documented at the beginning of the season (she is family members with Hosea Williams). That being said, the girl just proved why she is a real housewife this season by being married to a very controlling husband, AKA that closet case Kordell Stewart. Now he has filed for divorce from her and it is getting ugly. Really ugly. I am sure the way he was portrayed on the show didn’t really hit well with him on the home front hence why he is leaving her, but was there anything else that could’ve attributed to it? There were some great and genuine moments such as Porsha revealing her problems trying to conceive and her devotion to charity work, but really all that relationship was was Kordell telling Porsha what to do in every situation. She was another one that got into it so many times with Kenya, and originally I was on Porsha’s side, but as the season went on and all she had to throw digs on was her age really just showed how immature Porsha was. Now with the divorce riding high, she is sure to be a cast member for next season, but will they portray her as the newly single Carrie Bradshaw of Atlanta? Time will tell.
Kenya Moore-
I love Kenya Moore. I really, really do. I have had this girl’s back from the get go pretty much and there are so many aspects about her that I find to just be freaking fantastic. This show needed someone like her, and I understood why she did what she did. The only thing I disagreed with was how rough she was in the first episode when judging the Jet Beauty Pageant thing at Cynthia’s agency. Besides that, girl can stand up for herself. Phaedra was wrong in not paying her, you don’t do stuff for free. Porsha, miss “265 Days A Year” was wrong as well with her below the belt jokes that made Kenya seem to be this old woman when really she is the best looking girl of the bunch (and most physically fit). Did she overreact about Walter? No. If my friends kept inviting my ex to places and they knew it made me uncomfortable, well then they aren’t really friends to begin with? Kenya really did a great job at getting her point across and looking back on things I really get where she was coming from. “Gone With The Wind Fabulous” is truly the best quote of the season and a mantra I use in my everyday life. She is a beautiful and smart addition to the show and I can’t wait to see where it leads next season.
What are your thoughts RHOA fans? Did you like this season? What are your views on the ladies? Can’t wait for the reunion next week!
Politics in gay bars: what to/ not to do
As it has been nine years now since I started going to gay bars back in the day in Providence, I have seen my fair share of quite frankly everything one can see for themselves. When you live in a city like Manhattan, the gay bars are plentiful and designed for a certain type of atmosphere or look. Each and every guy you see in there has a purpose of being there. There are the ones who just got off of work and are there for happy hour and a drink. There are ones who go to the special leather nights and want to find a guy who either has a strap on their right or left arm (if you get that analogy, congratulations). There are ones who go with a group and are social just for the fact of being social. Then there are the elusive ones who are brave enough to go out there on their own and try to find someone. Be it a conversation, a boyfriend or a one night stand, we have all been there in terms of what we want to get out of it. So if you are that striking, handsome chap who happens to find themselves at the local gay bar in Chelsea, here are a couple of things you can do in order to make sure that at the end of the night you leave with a smile on your face (and pants hopefully).
Approaching someone who is alone-
This is really the best case-scenario as their is no blockage in the way (groups, annoying girls who show up with them, etc). There are really good ways to gauge how you can approach something like this. If you happen to be standing next to them, or across the bar, make sure that you know they are attracted. How? Usually, if a guy looks up at you a handful of times and stares/smiles, it’s a go. If they do that and are not moving from the position they are in, generally they want you to come over and say hello. After a handful of smiles, go over and say hello. Figure out a topic of conversation outside of the “You are cute, so are you” and go with it. That way, you have found someone of interest and hopefully will have a good night. These situations require bravery in that you don’t want to keep looking at each other and not do anything about it. Someone else might approach or a friend shows up late and they get there, and you lose your chance. Carpe Diem- seize the moment.
Infiltrating the group scenario-
This is one of the more trickier ones, especially if you are there by yourself. Let’s start by making this easier- you are with a friend or two. There are so many scenarios here. In a city like New York, so many people know each other. One good way is if you or your friend happen to know one of the guys in the other group, that way making social interaction is easy and you can go from there. What if that doesn’t happen? There are ways around it without making it awkward, but if you are in a sports bar generally you can strike up a conversation about who they are rooting for and what they think about the game. If the other group aren’t dickish, they will respond and generate a good conversation. If you happen to be alone and see a guy in a group that you want to talk to, I would advise not. They are there with a group to have a good time and usually will not look for anything more than that. BUT, if they happen to be in a twosome or threesome, wait for their friend to leave to get a drink and then jump in. It may not lead to the best case scenario in that other guy might be their date or not interested, but it always helps to go in for the kill. You never know.
Getting the guys number-
So in those two scenarios, you have made it to the conversation. Whatever you are talking about, you are getting the feeling the guy is interested. Here are some good motives to getting that number and securing date number one. One- try to be witty and cute. Say something like, “So I’m cute, you are cute, let’s go on a date and be cute together”. That way, he laughs and knows that you are interested in going on a date without over doing it. If the witty approach doesn’t work for you, it always works to just be blunt and say “Can I get your number’. Some like that, some don’t. There have been situations where a guy will give you a fake number, which is the worst because then you can really tell what you are doing is a waste of time. Ask him “Here is my number, call me with yours so I can save it in my phone”. Then you know the guy is for real.
These are just some fun, helpful tips to have a successful night at whatever bar you deemed appropriate to go to. Good luck, and happy man hunting!
Gay Marriage debate- you silly bible thumpers
Two days ago my Facebook News Feed was flooded with red and more red and more red. The constant change of several gay and straight friend’s profile pictures was a significant eye opening experience as the DOMA (Defense Of Marriage Act) and the ban on California’s Prop 8 have come into severe play on the Supreme Court. What made it so amazing to me is how many of my personal friends and thousands of others are for the ban and challenge of both acts and propositions and really how the support for gays in this country has increased exponentially in the past ten to fifteen years.
The funniest part of this whole thing is the opposition. Now, I always do my best to come into things with a mature look on both angles regardless if I happen to be biased on one side. This time around, there is no defense for the conservative bible thumpers who ONLY have one defense in this whole thing- the bible itself. Really people, you take one line in an entire book and turn it into something that is so beyond catastrophically stupid that we even have these ridiculous and time consuming debates, court cases and millions of people feeling like second class citizens.
I will only speak from my experience here. I always get the sense that these right-wing, old fashioned homophobic people view gay men in particular as only one way. They fear us for several reasons and blame a lot of what they think we are on their own huge insecurities. It wasn’t too long ago that interracial marriage was banned, now that is over. It wasn’t too long ago that white and black people drank from separate water fountains, now that is over. These things are all over because people stood up for what they believed was right (and actually was), spoke the fuck up and silenced the morons that were raised on their own bigotry because their parents and people around them taught to be hateful, simple minded jackasses.
This has even gotten to a point where the most right wing, conservative people like Bill O’Reilly and Karl Rove have stated somewhat in jest but really saying that gay marriage should happen. Yes, Bill O’Reilly and Karl Rove. Several other conservatives have stepped forward, in particular ones that thanks to Andrew Cuomo were a big part in legalizing gay marriage here in New York. I am fortunate, because I live in one of the states that when I do get married (gotta find the guy first, hit me up I’m cute) I can do it in a legal fashion and not have to tip-toe around a civil union or drive thousands of miles to another state to make it real. If this issue has become that drastic where the most conservative of conservatives are siding with gay and gay friendly people on this matter, then I don’t see why this whole process can be taken care of, prop 8 thrown away, DOMA taken down, and that EVERY MOTHER FUCKING STATE legalizes gay marriage. Everyone, and I mean EVERY PERSON deserves equal rights. This has become our civil rights movement, and we deserve what everyone else has.
As Miranda Priestly puts it so easily yet to the point, “That’s All”.
Summer Dreams: Summer 2013 Fashion Trends
Despite the bitter cold weather we’ve been experiencing in New York, Summer is right around the corner! And with Summer weather comes a new Summer wardrobe. I have started stocking up since November… And I thought I’d share the trends I think will be big this season.
My favorite item for Summer 2013 is High Waisted Denim Shorts!
I am seriously obsessed with this look. High waist jeans are flattering on almost every body type. Every retail store is stocking up on these must have shorts so, no matter your budget, there are a pair just for you. My most recent purchases have been from online sellers who customize the shorts the way you like; studs, lace, tears, etc… I love the vintage feel of this style.
You can rock these with a basic white tee or vintage band tee or with a sleek button up. Just about everything looks good with a pair of high waist shorts. Flip flops for the beach, a pair of high tops for a rocker feel, or a towering pair of platform wedges.
Speaking of floral…
Floral prints are a trend that never go out of style. And floral will be everywhere this year.
Personally, I like my florals mixed with something a little structured or hard looking. Think 90’s grunge but an updated version! Adding denim to any floral print basically gives you a vintage grunge look. A denim vest with a strapless floral summer dress or a denim shirt with floral shorts, maybe?
Now for the my color choices for this Summer (drum roll!) …
Mint and Coral!
My sister Theresa is actually the person to bring these wonderful colors into my wardrobe decisions. I have always been someone who favored the furthest ends of the light spectrum (Black and White) … Summer was always a big white season for me. I love the contrast of my tan skin against a gleaming white piece of clothing, but I have severely underestimated the subtle glow of a mint green and coral item. Because of their neutral tones these colors can be part of almost any outfit or any article of clothing.
There are so many trends that are going to be popular this Summer and I wish I could list them all but instead I’ll just post some pics of some items I think should be in every girl’s wardrobe this Summer season!
Here are some idea’s I thought looked cute for this Summer;
Feel free to comment about anything you think I should have included and stay tuned for my Swim Wear article!
Big Ronnie Learns About Smoking Meat
Hello ManhattanDigest.com readers! My name is Ronnie Parisella, I am a native NY’er (born in Brooklyn), and am a Professional and Entrepreneur in the IT industry. I am a fan of most things consumable, most notably; cigars, whiskey and food. I write for FineTobaccoNYC.com, a Cigar/Lifestyle blog and Power Consulting Group, the IT Consulting Firm where I work. I look forward to bringing you posts about topics that taste really good.
For my first topic, I’ve chosen to discuss food, specifically, BBQ, more specifically, Smoking.
When I was 19, I had a small basement apartment in Brooklyn. I loved the freedom my first apartment gave me, and I took advantage of it liberally. Every Thursday, I would host friends and co-workers over for poker, BBQ & beer. Friends would always bring over something interesting. Sausage, steaks, chops, marinades, rubs, etc. And I would supply the Bourbon/Scotch/Rye/Etc. I learned not only a ton about what to cook, but more importantly; what too cook with.
Then, I was using an inexpensive charcoal grill and Royal-Oak charcoal. The natural wood was the best flavor I’d tasted yet, much better than lighter fluid soaked charcoal briquettes.
This past January, when Erica and I moved from a small Ft. Greene studio to a big apartment in Bay Ridge with a deck and backyard, I knew I needed to purchase a grill that I could have my way with, frequently. After some research, I decided on the Char-Griller Duo, a very large, heavy grill that does not fit on my deck (Booooooooo).
The Char-Griller Duo is a dual zone grill with separate zones for gas (propane) and charcoal heat sources. The smaller, lower container on the right side of the grill is Char-Griller’s Texas Fire Box. I have smoked big cuts of meat, just about every weekend since we moved in (with a few weekends off for business trips), and have been blown away by the results. Now, I use the charcoal and wood chips/chunks from Cowboy Charcoal. They offer many different varieties of wood types and sizes, and are sold nationally at Lowe’s. I have tried their Mesquite and Hickory chunks, and their Apple, Pecan and Cherry wood chips. I also prefer their 100% natural Hardwood Lump Charcoal.
Proper smoking is all about time and temperature. Anything other than that is purely for flavor. I have been experimenting with several different cuts of meat and wood types to practice.
Essentially, all you need to know is the weight of the cut, the temperature your heat source should be, and the internal temperature you need for the meat to reach before it’s done. Large cuts of meat are done when their pre-determined internal temperature is reached.Smaller cuts (like ribs) aren’t held to a temperature standard to tell when they are done. You’ll need to know how long these smaller cuts will need to cook in advance.
As for the actual smoking process, it’s pretty simple; try not to open the grill too much, and make sure the temperature is in the correct range for what you are cooking.
I buy my meat from a local butcher/meat market called Frank & Eddie’s in Bay Ridge. Nice, friendly staff and they are very helpful with BBQ/smoking recommendations.
I leave you with pictures of my first 5 smoking sessions (Brisket, Bone-In Loin of Pork, Spare Ribs, Lobster Tail, Baby Back Ribs, Chicken, St. Loius Style Ribs, Prime Rib and T-Bones).
Fun and Debauchery at The Black Party Weekend
New York City itself is known for being a prime area for some of the best events in the world. That rings true especially for events geared towards the gay community. The Black Party weekend is one of those annual events that bring men from around the world for a weekend of excitement, dancing, interesting wardrobe choices and above all a unique experience that you can’t get anywhere else in the world.
Hosted at the legendary Roseland Ballroom, the Black Party Weekend starts on Friday night and doesn’t end until around Sunday afternoon. If you are into something that is a little outside of the norm, this is the event for you. Leather and gear enthusiasts are rampant at all of the events, as well as some of the most known names in the gay adult industry.
It starts out on Friday night around 7PM with the Black Party Expo. This gets the weekend going, with several different vendors promoting their fascinating lines. Whether it is a gay app that is hot right now (Recon, Mister), the best M4M night in the world (Adonis), or some of the biggest gay adult websites online right now (Cocky Boys, Lucas Entertainment) there was something for everyone there. It was set up with a fantastic light display that encompassed the look of a Ferris Wheel. It was something that I could definitely tell was going to be in heavy use for the party itself.
That same night was where The Hookie awards took place. This event was designed for rentboy.com, a site devoted to the personal enjoyment of a fellow gentleman. Hosted by Rupaul’s Drag Race season 4 winner Sharon Needles and comedian Cole Escada, the awards were presented in full to some well known names in the adult industry (Austin Wolff, Trenton Ducati, Rafael Alencar) and some of the biggest members on Rentboy. Some of the presenters included well known journalists like Paper Magazine Editor-In-Chief Mr. Mickey and Village Voice writer Michael Musto. The awards itself had some really great names to them (Best Top, Best Boyfriend Fantasy, etc) and above all everyone seemed to have a great time. Sharon and Cole did an amazing job themselves, and as a personal fan of Sharon’s it was great to see her perform live and prove why she won season 4.
The next days events were similar to Friday nights. There was an extended version of the expo that lasted from 12-7pm, so if you weren’t able to make it there Friday you had all day to see what the vendors were selling and get to meet and greet some of your favorite stars. Saturday night is what everyone was there for- The Black Party. I had a ton of friends who went, and said they had a great time. Some really unique performances took place but above all the music kept everyone going through the night into Sunday morning.
If you ever get a chance to have a once in a lifetime experience and you are local or visiting the New York City area, stop by next year’s Black Party weekend. It is one that you don’t want to miss!
Pedro Zamora- Why his legacy remains important
Out of frustration that I was stuck home last night due to circumstances (babysitting my nephew. Cute yes, on a Saturday night not so much), I was flipping through my channels when I saw that MTV was doing a Real World marathon of their three biggest seasons (New York Season 1, San Fransisco Season 3 and Las Vegas Season 12). They hashtagged it with #retroMTV, and where as I don’t see Vegas being so retro the other two were and so much more. Vegas was on last night, and it was a great reminder of how great the show used to be yet somehow I see Vegas as the one that made that show “jump the shark” because they spent every season afterwards sexualizing the program as opposed to making it about 7 strangers who were trying to co-exist in one place. There is a difference there.
Today they are doing what is still considered by so many people as the best season of Real World- San Fransisco. The third season of this iconic show portrayed two of its most polarizing characters in Pedro Zamora, and David “Puck” Rainey. Two completely different men in so many ways yet made the show fascinating with their unique viewpoints and how they got to the life they had at that time in 1994. Puck was considered to be the zany outcast of the group, getting arrested on his way to going to the house and doing a number of unpredictable acts such as putting his fingers in the peanut butter as one. Something by that standards could be on Nick Junior today and no one would blink an eye, but twenty years ago this was considered ground breaking in a variety of ways.
Pedro Zamora on the other hand, couldn’t have been more of a stark opposite.
An avid educator on AIDS, he was shown throughout the show doing his lectures about his condition and how others can prevent it. Him and Sean Sasser also made headlines as one of the first gay couples to be seen on a national spotlight and in such a frank and open manner. They would up getting engaged and had a commitment ceremony in the loft that Zamora and his castmates were living in for the show.
Sadly, Zamora wound up passing away only a couple of months after filming ended on November 11th, 1994. Since his passing, he was acknowledged for his tireless efforts as an AIDS crusader by former President Bill Clinton and had several organizations named in his honor as well.
So why does he remain relevant today? It’s simple. To put it in terms only I can, Pedro stood up and spoke loud and clear about a disease that was killing millions when others cowarded and avoided the topic due to their own personal feelings about homosexuals and AIDS itself. He knew the uphill battle that he had to face and took it head on and instead of retreating and living out the rest of his life in silence he broke the mold and spoke his piece in a time where this disease was a major death sentence and viewed as globally in a terrible manner. He made people wake up and educate themselves, something that a lot of people are still having a hard time doing today.
Quite frankly, he should’ve been nominated and awarded with the Nobel Peace Prize that year. He brought a nation together and gave them an understanding of what he was going through so that each person themselves could get a better judgement on what the disease was and that beyond the disease there is a human being attached to that person. There is more to a person than HIV. He is and forever will be in people’s minds seen as a hero and he is one of mine as well for so many different reasons.
Scottie Gage’s “Moonglow”- Simple Yet Extraordinary
Scottie Gage is a remarkably gifted vocalist and artist who has released some pretty amazing music over the course of his career (my personal favorite being Waterslide, which you can see here). Now he is set to release some great new music, and is highlighting one track that goes by the name of “Moonglow”.
There are so many artists out there that try to evoke emotion both in the song and video that comes with that never seems to ever come to light. It can be forced and other times just be completely fake. For Scottie and this song, neither of those facts ring true. You can see it in his eyes when he is singing that he means every word he says, something that artists like Mary J. Blige and Robin Thicke have truly achieved over their careers. Scottie already has it.
“Moonglow” is truly a simple song in the sense that there is a beautiful piano and drum beat that accompany it but the main focus is the lyricism in the song and his beautiful voice. It is reminiscent of songs like “Bleeding Love” by Leona Lewis and “Foolish Games” by Jewel in that it really details the pain and agony of going through the end of a relationship and realizing ones faults in the aftermath. The vibe of the song also has a Chet Baker feel to it with its fluidity and rhythm. The video for this is shot beautifully in black and white and has a great concrete background that gets the emotion of the song that much more on point. Overall, it really is something that is worth watching and listening to and should be heard by many.
See the video here and support this talented artist as he embarks on his musical journey.
